Huron County Dog Grooming

Policies

Huron County Dog Grooming’s priority is to ensure the health and safety of every pet that enters our establishment. We strive to provide only positive experiences during the grooming process, and as such, refuse to cause undue stress, pain or discomfort to an animal to appease factors of vanity.

Huron County Dog Grooming reserves the right to refuse or discontinue service at any time, for any reason, and only provide treatment we deem humane and in the best interest of every animal.

We assure that, as an educated professional in the animal care industry, we take every precaution possible to ensure a safe, incident-free, and stress-free grooming process. Huron County Dog Grooming imposes strict policies and procedures for disinfection protocols, animal handling techniques, continuing education, equipment function/maintenance, client communication, behaviour modification and routine grooming interval schedules, as deemed necessary. These are put in place to protect the health, safety and well-being of every animal in our care.

Although precautions are taken, there are various medical, behavioural, and physical situations that can arise. Grooming can expose hidden or undiagnosed medical conditions and aggravate past conditions, creating a requirement for veterinary treatment or intervention.

A matted pet, pet with behavioural issues, or a senior pet requiring extra care for physical support, may become traumatized and even injured during grooming. Even with the greatest of care, problems such as, but not limit to clipper burn, cuts, abrasions, stress, epidermal reactions, bleeding, hematomas, ocular abrasions, and corneal ulcers may occur due to sharp equipment being used on a moving or uncooperative pet. Huron County Dog Grooming is not finacially responsible for any issues that may arise during or after the grooming service because of these conditions.

Huron County Dog Grooming is not responsible and for injuries and/or pre-existing conditions that could result, or get worsened, because of grooming.

In an unlikely event, if your pet requires medical intervention, Huron County Dog Grooming will contact you immediately and seek veterinary care for your pet. Owners are responsible to disclose any pre-existing conditions and are liable for any veterinary costs.

More information can be provided at request.

** Once a pet enters salon, above and below policies will be enforced. **

Please see below for our general policies:

Vaccinations

  • Proof of rabies vaccines must be presented at first appointment. Once in our system we only need to see proof when vaccines are updated. Rabies titer also accepted. (Rabies vaccine required after 5 months of age)
  • Other vaccines not mandatory for service, but highly recommended for the health and safety of your pet

Fleas

  • If fleas are found, and pet is not on a proper flea/tick prevention program, a $15 charge will be applied for use of a specialized flea shampoo. The groom time will also be minimized and some services may not be prefromed to avoid the spread of fleas to other pets coming. I ask that you put your dog on a vet prescribed flea program during the warm months.
  • If fleas are found on your pet on more than one occasion and treatment has not been applied, your pet will no longer be accepted to the salon.

Coat condition / matting

  • Huron County Dog Grooming reserves the right to turn away any service for reasons due to health, temperament or coat condition
  • Dogs with matted coats will be shaved to remove matts, as I do not believe in putting a dog through unnecessary distress for the sake of leaving a long coat. Severe matting cases may be turned away and recommended to a veterinarian.
  • Service will be refused if client does not adhere to professional advice
